Hanseatic School of Life is a large non-profit organization in Thailand that cares for children and adolescents in need. The concept is based on the idea of “helping people to help themselves” and aims at lastingly reducing poverty. It prepares the children for every day “key situations” and thus for their future life. The children are encouraged to be proactive and creative and thus become independent personalities.

Since 1986 the Phönikks-Stiftung has been actively helping children with cancer, together with their parents and families. Through the difficult period of the illness and sometimes even after the patient has died the Phönikks psychotherapists help those affected to live a normal life as much as possible. The help is provided free of charge.

The Duckdalben is a seaman’s club in Hamburg and was founded in 1986 by deacon Jan Oltmanns. Approx. 35.000 seaman from around the world are visiting the club per year to seek practically help and orientation. The team is built by 20 full time employees and numerous volunteers.

DLRG (German Life Saving Society) is the world’s largest voluntary lifesaving organization. Since it was founded in 1913 it concentrates on retain people from drowning.
