UNITED HEAVY LIFT is an internationally operated and dynamically growing shipping company in the heavy-lift segment. We bring together several specialized brands and units that collectively cover all relevant functions of a modern shipping organization—from chartering and operations to crewing and technical management, as well as finance and administration.


Our fleet consists of 22 modern heavy-lift vessels, all of which are in service worldwide. This is complemented by efficient shore-based structures that ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective vessel operations.

OFFICE LOCATION: HAMBURG

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE OFFICE

To provide cargo related technical expertise, including

  • Prepare stowage plans, lifting arrangements, lashing plans, method statements, etc.
  • Provide guidance on cargo hold preparation and seamanship’s related topics
  • Discuss stowage or cargo related topics with master and owners
  • Provide technical information about vessels and advice on cargo handling restrictions and various related issues
  • Participate in vessels’ scheduling meetings in close cooperation with the chartering department

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OUT OF THE OFFICE

To provide cargo related technical expertise, including

  • Physical supervision of stowage and securing of cargo
  • Coordination of gang ordering and ships’ working schedules
  • Discuss stowage or cargo related topics with master and owners
  • Supervise stevedoring work and special-order loading/unloading operations
  • Act as a company representative
  • Interface between the office, stevedores, and ships

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, and interpersonal
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Knowledge of German language is considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively interact with ships, Masters and crew
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently
  • Computer proficient / Knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ship construction, structural strength, trim, stability
  • Knowledge experience with stowage, lashing, other requirements for the carriage of breakbulk such as steel, projects and heavy lifts

WHAT WE EXPECT

  • Minimum two years of seagoing experience as chief mate or second mate is considered an asset
  • Ability to travel and work outside regular business hours, including weekends, as required
